Special Report

A controversial decision is being proposed that will effect Longford Tourism and jobs. A decision to allow County Council to rezone a designated tourism area in the historical Ardagh Village by Charles Haughey decades ago, to agricultural zone that will change the Beauty of Ardagh forever. The public have until next tues to to voice theier concerns about this to your local councilors, after that the public will not have any say.

Clarification thanks to Ardagh Preservation Society

Hon The Cruisers

Combined Counties League Cup Final was held in Gowna County Longford on sat 31st of July, 5.30pm Kick Off.  A very competitive match between Longford Town Cruisers FC (managed by Patrick Sears) versus Longford County team UCL. The Longford Town Cruisers won 3 v 2, Cruisers winning their first cup final ever, and I am sure the celebrations will go on well into the night. UCL started impressively holding ball for long period’s of the first half, a slow start from the Cruisers who came on strong in the second half and finished even stronger towards end where they looked likely to score more if the game had of gone on. Check out video below to see some cracking goals with a free kick screamer, and some very good team play by Cruisers for their goals and a deserved penalty for third that won it. Couple of pics of the cup hand over by Paddy Nolan league representative and below that the video I took of the match enjoy. If you would like to support and help for more of the same click the PayPal me link here thank you and enjoy the match.

Longford Ladies Back in Town

Rose Fagan and Carmel Steele two of Longford Ladies enjoying the bit of freedom with the relaxing of covid restrictions. They use to meet on a Friday and catch up with all the news before the restrictions and are glad to be back. While they were waiting on the rest of the gang, they were enjoying a nice meal in Jack-O-Bites Cafe, across from Tescos Longford Town.
